Resolution Requesting NYS Department Of Transportation To Authorize A Speed Limit
Of 30 Mph For Spook Hill Road
At a regular meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Wappinger, Dutchess County,
New York, held at Town Hall, 20 Middlebush Road, Wappingers Falls, New York, on April 14,
2014.
The meeting was called to order by Barbara Gutzler, Supervisor, and upon roll being
called, the following were present:

Michael Kuzmicz
The following Resolution was introduced by Councilwoman Czarniecki and seconded by
Councilman Kuzmicz.
WHEREAS, the Town Board has received numerous concerns and requests from
residents of the Town of Wappinger that the speed limit on Spook Hill Road be lowered to 30
mph from 40 mph; and
WHEREAS, the jurisdiction to establish a town wide speed limit vests with the New
York State Department of Transportation; and
WHEREAS, the Town Board determines that it is in the best interest of the traveling
public, and for the general public health, safety and welfare of the residents of the Town of
Wappinger, to request that the New York State Department of Transportation establish a 30 mph
speed limit on Spook Hill Road.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED:
1. The recitations above set forth are incorporated in this Resolution as if fully set forth
and adopted herein.
2. The Town Board hereby requests that the New York State Department of
Transportation formally establish a speed limit of 30 mph on Spook Hill Road.
3. The Town Board hereby authorizes Supervisor Barbara A. Gutzler to submit a written
request to the New York State Department of Transportation, on behalf of the Town,
to establish and reduce the speed limit on Spook Hill Road to 30 mph.
The foregoing was put to a vote which resulted as follows:
