2020-108 2020-108 Proclamation on National Older Americans Month At a Regular Meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Wappinger, Dutchess County, New York, held at Town Hall, 20 Middlebush Road, Wappingers Falls, New York, on May 11, 2020. The meeting was called to order by Richard Thurston, Town Supervisor, and upon roll being called, the following was recorded:  Vote Record - Resolution RES-2020-108 Yes/Aye No/Nay Abstain Absent Adopted  Richard Thurston Mover     Adopted as Amended  William H. Beale Voter      Defeated Angela Bettina Voter     Tabled  Christopher Phillips Seconder     Withdrawn  Al Casella Voter     The following Resolution was introduced by Supervisor Thurston and seconded by Councilman Phillips. Whereas, the Town of Wappinger is home to many older Americans who make countless contributions to our community every day; and Whereas, the Town of Wappinger is stronger when people of all ages, abilities, and backgrounds are included and encouraged to make their mark; and Whereas, the Town of Wappinger recognizes the importance of the physical, mental, social, and emotional well-being of its citizens; and Whereas, Town of Wappinger Government can support our community members by: • promoting independence, inclusion, and participation; • engaging older adults through education, recreation, and service; and • connecting people with opportunities to share their time, experience, and talents. Now, therefore be it resolved, that the Town Board of the Town of Wappinger do hereby proclaim May 2020 to be Older Americans Month. The Town Board urges every resident to recognize older adults and the people who support them as essential members of our community.
