Reference: Subrize Drainage/MacFarlane Road
Dear Supervisor Smith & Board Members:
As requested at a recent Town Board meeting, we were asked to take a
look at the existing drainpipe, which exits onto Mr. Subrize's front yard on
MacFarlane Road. The culvert drains the existing roadway and deposits the
runoff directly in the middle of his property.
made an inspection with Graham Foster, and it was discussed that we
could remove the existing drainpipe and realign it down Mr. Subrize's
easterly property line. This would allow for the Town of have the drain
pipe and not cut diagonally across the front yard, and would remove the
drainage point from the front yard to the side yard. This work could be
performed by the Highway Department as stated by Mr. Foster.
It so happened that we met Mr. Subrize out in the field that day and he
agreed conceptually with the work that was being proposed. It was also
stated that an easement would be needed from Mr. Subrize to formalize
the agreement, Mr. Subrize stated in general terms that he was in
agreement to do this.
If the Board would like us to further this process, please advise at the next
Board meeting.
As a corollary to this, you may recall that Mr. Subrize did have some
drainage concerns regarding the construction of a house on the empty lot
next door. After working with the Builder regarding those concerns, we
arrived at a mutually, agreeable solution. It was reported by Mr. Subrize to
me that the work that was done by the builder has been very effective,
especially in light of the last couple weeks of heavy rain.
