2022-94 2022-94 Resolution Approving Hiring of New Court Officer Employed By Town Of Wappinger At a Regular Meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Wappinger, Dutchess County, New York, held at Town Hall, 20 Middlebush Road, Wappingers Falls, New York, on April 25, 2022. WHEREAS,by memo dated April 12, 2022, the Town Court Clerk, Kristine Thomas, has advised the Town Board that there is a need for an Armed Court Officer to provide security for the Town of Wappinger Justice Court; and WHEREAS, the Town Court Clerk has recommended the hiring of a NYS Office of Court Administration Court Officer to provide court security and screening; and WHEREAS, the person recommended by the Town Court Clerk maintain peace officer status pursuant to Criminal Procedure Law § 2.10(21)(a) and are qualified to serve in the position in accordance with the civil service rules of the Dutchess County Department of Human Resources; and WHEREAS, the Town Court Clerk has recommended that the pay for the Court Officer be set at $35.00 per hour, for a 4 hour minimum; and WHEREAS, the Town Board has appropriated sufficient funding in the 2022 Budget for this Armed Court Officer position; and NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED, as follows: 1. The recitations above set forth are incorporated in this Resolution as if fully set forth and adopted herein. 2. The Town Board hereby appoints David Acevedo to the position of Armed Court Officer (hourly) effective immediately. 3. Said appointment is subject to the Civil Service Law of the State of New York and shall be subject to the Civil Service Law Rules and Regulations of Dutchess County and the State of New York.
