2004-11-04 PH11/04/2004.PH A Public Hearing was held by the Town Board of the Town of Wappinger on November 4, 2004 at the Town Hall, 20 Middlebush Road, Wappingers Falls, New York on the Preliminary Budget for 2005. Supervisor Ruggiero opened the Meeting at 7:32 p.m. Present: Joseph Ruggiero, Supervisor Robert Valdati, Councilman Joseph Paoloni, Councilman Absent: Vincent Bettina, Councilman Maureen McCarthy, Councilwoman Gloria J. Morse, Town Clerk The Deputy Town Clerk offered for the record the Affidavit of Posting and Publication duly signed and notarized. (These Affidavits are attached hereto and made part thereof the Minutes of the Meeting). Supervisor Ruggiero wished to know if anyone in the audience wished to speak in regard to the Preliminary Budget. One resident wished to know how he could obtain a copy of the Preliminary Budget. Supervisor Ruggiero replied that he could get one from the Comptroller. Councilman Valdati wished to have the Supervisor explain the increase in "fixed costs". Supervisor Ruggiero explained that the biggest increase in costs to the Town is the health insurance costs, we just got an increase. Pension costs is going from 4 1/2 % to 11%. Salt is going from $27 a ton to $42 a ton. There has also been a significant increase in line items that we have no control over. Councilman Valdati felt some one should look into the reason for the big increase in salt prices. Supervisor Ruggiero answered that the salt comes from State bid. There were no further comments or questions. Supervisor Ruggiero moved to close the Public Hearing, seconded by Councilman Paoloni and unanimously carried.
