2004-255t RESOLUTION NO. 2004-255 RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING COURT CLERKS TO ATTEND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM At the regular meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Wappinger, Dutchess County, New York, held at Town Hall, 20 Middlebush Road, Wappingers Falls, New York, on the 30th day of August, 2004, at 7:30 P.M. The meeting was called to order by Joseph Ruggiero, Supervisor, and upon roll being called, the following were present: PRESENT: Supervisor - Joseph Ruggiero Councilmen - Robert L. Valdati Vincent F. Bettina AVMRk2&RWjRA Maureen McCarthy ABSENT: Joseph Paoloni The following Resolution was introduced by Mr. Valdat; and seconded by Ms McCarthy WHEREAS, the Town Board wishes to authorize Cheryl Hait and Linda Walters Court Clerks, to attend the Continuing Judicial Education Program at the NYS Magistrate Court Clerks Annual Conference on October 4th and 5th 2003 in Saratoga Springs, New York. NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, Cheryl Hait and Linda Walters are hereby authorized to attend the Continuing Judicial Education Program at the NYS Magistrate Court Clerks Annual Conference on October 4th and 5th 2003 in Saratoga Springs, New York., at a cost not to exceed Six Hundred, Sixty -Six and 97/100 Dollars ($666.97) per person. SULLIVAN Executive Assistant MARYRITA DOWEL Assistant Deputy Counsel 2004 Continuing Judicial Education Program for Court Clerks at the New York State Magistrate rniirt (''lPrlrc Annual Conference The NYS Unified Court System (UCS) and the New York State Association of Magistrate Court Clerks will conduct a seminar for Town and Village Court Clerks October 4t', 5t' and 61, 2004 at the Holiday Inn in Saratoga Springs, New York in conjunction with the New York State Magistrates Association and the New York State Association of Magistrate Court Clerks Annual Conferences. The program will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Monday, October 4t'; from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 5`''; and from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 6`''. The New York State Association of Magistrate Court Clerks will hold their annual business meeting from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Monday, October 4`''. The training program will include Beginner, Basic and Advanced classes. The subjects to be covered include: Sex Offender Registration, Domestic Violence, Credit Cards, DMV: New Fines, Surcharges, Etc., Small Claims, Criminal Procedure, Questions and Answers, Small Claims & Civil Procedures, TSLED , CDR Reporting, Fiscal Record Keeping, Record Retention, and Jury Trials and other topics of interest to justice court clerks. Please note that Robert Smith, Court Liaison, at DMV and Tina Richburg, Senior Court Analyst, at the NYS Unified Court System will be hosting an elective class on October 5`' from 9 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. regarding E. Disposition: Hands on Electronic Reporting. This class will be held at the Fourth District Administrative Office 65 South Broadway, Suite 101, in Saratoga Springs. There is no fee charged by the UCS for attendance at any of the UCS -sponsored programs. However, any court clerk participating in the New York State Association of Magistrate Court Clerks Annual Conference may be subject to the Association's convention fees. It is important that you remove the conference registration form and hotel reservation form from this issue making copies if necessary to provide to other clerks if needed. These forms will also be posted on our association's website at www.nysmee.com. The conference registration form must be completed and mailed with proper registration fee (check's payable to N.Y.S.A.M.C.C., Inc.) to Lori Dankert. 10729 North Road. The court clerks association will maintain the $25.00 pre -registration fee for 2004, however the on-site registration fee has been raised to $50.00. The second form, the hotel registration form, must be completed and forwarded directly to the Holiday Inn. All individuals attend- ing the conference and staying at the Holiday Inn must register Name: with the hotel, even if the room is a double occupancy. As last year our principal base of operations in Saratoga Springs will be at the Holiday Inn. All classes and business meetings will take place at the Holiday Inn. Our overflow, if any, will go to the Hilton. Mail conference registration date cut off will be September 7. 2004. No late mail registrations will be accepted after that date. Payments for registration will be accepted until September 25. Any payments after that date, irrespective of being in transit will be assessed the normal late registration fee set at $50.00. Payments by municipal voucher must arrive by the September 25th cut off date to be valid. Please remember to bring a valid tax-exempt certificate for proof to the hotel.
