There have been several cases in the past where Home Owners made partial or excess payments for services billed, only for the Sewer and Water Billing Clerk to return such payments. This has lead to increased cost to the Town in terms of administration, phone calls and unnecessary postage. The internal policy attached is an attempt to streamline this area. Sincerely Fredrick Awino TOWN OF WAPPINGER INTERNAL POLICY ON COLLECTION OF WATER AND SEWER BILLS # 2010-0001 1.1 All sewer and water bills should be paid by due date in full. A penalty of 10% on balance due will be imposed on any unpaid bills by due date. 1.2The Town of Wappinger may accept partial payment for water and sewer services. Any balances due from the partial payments will also incur a penalty of 10%. Partial payments will be apportioned to water and/or sewer accounts, where applicable, at the discretion of the Accounting Department. 1.3 The Town's Accounting Department may accept payments for water and sewer services over and above the amounts billed for each Quarter. Excess payments will be credited to the Home Owner to be applied on the next and /or future billing.
