As you may know, the Recreation Department has a bucket truck among the vehicles in
our fleet. This truck has not been used since my hiring, and I've looked the truck over to
evaluate it's condition.. There are no stabilizers presW on the truck, leading me to believe
that it was designed to be used on level pavement only. it would not be suitable for use
off paved areas which is the bulk of the work we xoight need it for. Theme is a substantial
amount of rust on the truck which will only worsen over faun. In addition, this truck is
wired to be certified safe for use annually at a cost of nearly $1000, and any
prospective operator is required to undergo traivaa g for use every two ymn. I've been.
told kiorraally that a past employee was injured in a fall froom this ttl CL
It is my opinion, due to the limited use we experience, the unsuitability of the ftwk to our
needs, certification costs and overall liability exposure than the Town offer this vehicle for
auction at the next surplus equipment auction at the Dutchess County Motor Compound.
Feel free to call we with any questions regwdiutg this -
sincerely,
Steve Frazier
