1988-05-23 SPMA Special Meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Wappinger was held on May 23, 1988, at the Town Hall, 20 Middlebush Road, Town of Wappinger, Dutchess County, New York. Supervisor Paino opened the meeting at 7:00 P.M. Present: Irene Paino, Supervisor Vincent Farina, Councilman David Reis, Councilman Constance Smith, Councilwoman Robert Valdati, Councilman Elaine H. Snowden, Town Clerk This meeting was called by Supervisor Paino for the purpose of appointing a full time Court Clerk to the Town Justices. Notices were sent to all Town Board Members on May 19, 1988, calling said meeting for May 23, 1988 at 7:00 P.M. Notices were also sent to the News Media and posted on the Town Clerk's Bulletin Board on May 19, 1988. A letter was received from the Town Justices recommending that Cheryl Hait be appointed to the position of full time Deputy Court Clerk for the Town of Wappinger Justice Court. Mrs. Hait submitted a statement that she was applying for this position as she felt she is qualified and is capable of accepting the responsibilities of the position at a minimum annual salary of $13,800.00. She also waived her rights to health benefits as an employee of the Town since she has full coverage through her husband's employment. Mrs. -Smith questioned whether Mrs. Hait would be entitled to the health benefits at a later date if she finds herself in a position of needing them. Mrs. Paino replied that at such a time the matter can be brought before the Town Board and action taken to provide her with -the health benefits which are her right as an employee of the Town. The following resolution was offered by SUPERVISOR PAINO who moved its adoption: RESOLVED, that Cheryl Hait, be and she is hereby appointed to the position of full time Deputy Court Clerk to the Town of Wappinger Town Justices, at an annual prorated salary of $13,800.00, and BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that Mrs. Hait has waived her right to health benefits through employment by the Town of Wappinger, since full coverage is provided through her husband's employment. Seconded by: Councilman Reis Roll Call Vote: 5 Ayes 0 Nays r Mrs. Paino requested that another item be added to the Agenda which should have been addressed at their regular meeting, however, Mrs. Snowden reminded the Board that the notification for this special meeting indicated that no other business than the appointment of the Deputy Court Clerk, would come before the Board. She pointed out that if the full Board waived the notification, the other item could be addressed. MRS. PAINO moved to place another item on the Agenda for this meeting and waive the notification contents. Seconded by Mrs. Smith Motion Unanimously Carried A Memo was sent to the Comptroller from the Building Inspector requesting the return of $250.00 to Anthony Rose, said sum being held in escrow for the completion of various improvements on the property located at 67 Hackensack Heights in the Town of Wappinger. Mr. Classey indicated that the required improvements were satisfactorily completed and recommended the return of the $250.00. MRS. PAINO moved to authorize the Comptroller to return the sum of $250.00 to Anthony Rose, upon the recommendation of the Building Inspector. Seconded by Mr. Reis Motion Unanimously Carried MR.
