WHEREAS, such proposition'l it qualifiFd:electors
of the Town of Wappinger for apprbv election beld on the
8th day of November, 1966, and
WHEREAS, such proposition was .adopted by a majority of the qualifted
electors of the Town .of Wappinger voting thereon at said election. and
WHEREAS, any Town, which shall have determined to become a Town
Of 'the first class. is empowered to determine that tbe.office of receiver
of taxes and assessments shelf be an appointive rather than an elective
office in such Town, provided that such Town shall adopt a resolution,,
subject to a permissive referendum pursuant to section 12 (d) M of
the Town Law, and
WHEREAS, it appears that the interests of the Town of Wappinger
will be best served by the appointment ,of a receiver of taxes and as..
_ sessments.
NOW, THEREFORE. BE IT RESOLVED, by the Town Boardofths
Town of wappinger as follows:
1. That the office of receiver of taxes and assessments in the Town
of Wapptnger shall be an appointive office.
2. That on or after the first day of January, 1%8, the effective date
Of the change of classification of the Town of Wappinger from that
of a town of the second class to that of a. town of the first class, this
board shall appoint a receiver of taxes and assessments who shalt
take and hold office for a term of four years.
L;3, That the Town Clerk of the Town of Wappinger be and -she hereby
s authorized, empowered and directed to post and publish a notice
of the adoption of this resolution within ten (10) days after -the date
of adoption of the same in the manner and in the form required by
section 90 of the Town Law.
