1973-11-14 PH,Axy,t A Public Hearing was held by the Town Board of the Town of Wappinger on November 14, 1973 at Town Hall, Mill Street, in the Village of Wappingers Falls, Dutchess County, New York, on a Petition of US Cablevision for a change, amendment, and increase in rates of CATV. Supervisor Diehl opened the Hearing at 7:00 P.M. Present: Louis Diehl, Supervisor Louis Clausen, Councilman Harry Holt, Councilman Leif Jensen, Councilman Elaine Snowden, Town Clerk Absent: Stephen Saland, Councilman The Town Clerk offered for the record the Affidavit of Posting and Publication duly signed and notarized by Beatrice Osten of the W&SD News. (These Affidavits are attached hereto and made a part thereof of the minutes of this Hearing). Supervisor Diehl explained that the present rate is $4..55 and the company is petitioning for an increase to $6.00 per month. Mr. Calhoun, General Manager of US Cablevision stated that a financial statement had been filed with the Town Clerk. He went into detail why they were requesting this increase. Operating costs were mounting all the time and even this increase would only cover a portion of it. Mr. Gus Tullo asked about the local station and why they didn't broadcast the Pop Warner football games and other sport and local events. Mr. Calhoun said they hoped to increase coverage on local station. He presented a statement addressed to Mr. Diehl which supported his request for a rate increase. In comparison to other towns, Wappinger was still low. Mr. Jensen stated that residents in the Myers Corners Area, Oakwood Knolls Development complained of reception; he had received numerous calls and generally reception was very bad around 9 to 9:30 at night. Mr. Calhoun said he would check it out if given names and addresses. He just wanted to keep the customers happy. No one else spoke. Mr. Holt moved to close the Hearing, seconded by Mr. Jensen and unanimously carried. The Hearing closed at 7:25 P.M. 11 tuLt,_ Elaine H.
