Town of Wappingar hereby authorized and accepts a continuation

Mr. Mills remarked that there has been a lot of discussion on water
problems and there have been discussions with Mr. Lapar regarding
water districts. He feels it has become imperative that the Town
move faster thar in the past because of problems coming up.

MR. MILLS moved that the Supervisor be authorized to appoint a
Committee of three members of the Town Council and that this
Committee shall perform the following duties and report to this
Board as to the following items:
1. To confer with Allan E. Rappleyea, Attorney to the Town
upon the legal
teps necessary to form a Town of Wappinger Water

District which ti ill include all area of the Town with the exception
of the Village cyf Wappingers Falls and such other areas as are now
served by public; water districts.
2. Confer with Rudolph E. LaPar, Engineer to the Town, to
determine the necessary engineering studies required to establish
a Town wide water district as above set forth.

3. Confer with the Town of Poughkeepsie and City of Poughkeepsie
to determine the availability of water and the cost thereof from
said municipalities.

4. To contact the owners of all local water companies and
determine whether or not options can be obtained for the purchase
of said facilities for the inclusion in a public system in the
event the purchase of such facilities are necessary and/or usable
in a Town wide water system. Seconded by Mr. Finnan.
Motion.Unanimously Carried
(Mr. Finnan and Mr. Clausen both volunteered to serve on this
Committee.)
Mr. Diehl appointed Mr. Mills, Mr. Clausen and Mr. Finnan to serve
on this committee.
Mr. Diehl further commented that he had already sent a letter to
Mayor Lindsay, Deputy Mayor Morganthau and the Commissioner of Water
Supply in New York City regarding the possibility of using water
from the Chelsea Pumping Station.
Mr. Finnan noted there had been an article in the Poughkeepsie Journal
indicating County Executive Schoentag was looking for a depository
for debris that the Army Corps of Engineers could use to dump river
debris in. The Clerk was requested to write Mr. Schoentag asking if
the Army Corps of Engineers would dispose of the old barge in the
Wappingers Creek.
MR. MILLS moved the rules be suspended, seconded by Mr. Finnan and
carried.
Mr. Charles Simonson, Hackensack Heights, wanted to commend the
Highway ;Department for the snow plowing job they did. He also
asked if the Highway Department could plow wider on New Hackensack
Road in around Linge Lumber, and was there any more activity on the
North Wappinger Sewer Improvement.
MR. MILLS moved to resume the rules, seconded by Mr. Finnan and
carried.
MR. MILLS moved the meeting be adjourned, seconded by Mr. Finnan
and carried.
