1964-08-13 PHA Public Hearing was held by the Town Board, Town of WapliAnger, on the Card re -zoning, on Thursday evening, August 13th, 1964 in the Town Hall, Mill Street, Wappingers Falls, N. Y. Present: -Supervisor -Richard H. Linge, Councilmen -Wilmer Ifill and George Robinson, Justices of the Peace -William Bulger and Vincent Francese, Town Attorney -Judson Williams, Town Clerk Helen L. Travis. The Hearing waS opened at 7:40 P. M. by Richard H. Linge, Sup- ervisor. Supervisor Linge read the notice of the Hearing. Town Clerk reported that the notice had been published in the paper and had been posted. Mr. Linge asked for all thos in favor of the re -zoning to speak at this time. Jeffrey Richara, appeared for John J. Mulvey, Attorney for Mrs. Margaret Card. He presented a petition for Mrs. Card. He also read #104 and 106 of the Zoning Ordinance. He then showed slides of Route 9, to show the usage of this area. Mr. Linge then asked for thoseopposed to this are to speak at this time. L. A. Williams- a property owner adjacent to the Section #2, stated that when they purchased the property there was to be no commercial pooperty in the developement. He wanted to know why this had to change. William Garren stated that they wanted equality. Harry Ries, Peggy Lane, Asked why it should be zoned business when it is a residential area. Francis Halpin spoke against re -zoning. John Pitiasto spobe against re -zoning Thomas Larkin -spoke wanting to know why he should build two garages when the road is slated to go right though the building now there and through the new garages, and asked if it was being done for personal gain. Harry Ries spoke stating he had seen the final State Map and ac- cording to same the road will cut the store right in half. L Mr. Lynch spoke stating that this is the only road off of Route 9 that has a dead end with no other exit only on Route 9. Mr. Wooheiser spoke atating that the conditions in back of the building were terrible, rubbish is all over. Mr. Williams asked what was the purpose of showing these slides. Mr. Richards replied that it was to show the general complexion of Route9. The question was asked why Mr. Card asked for re -zoning of Section #1 and re -zoning of Section #2. Mr. Richards stated that there has been reference to the State taking part of Parcel #1 and then the business could be removed to Parcel #2. The hearing was declared closed at 8:40 P. M. Present-Supervisor-Richard H. Linge, Councilmen-Wilmer Ifill and George Robinson, Justices of the Peace Vincent Francess and Will- iam Bulger, Town Attorney-Judson Williams, Town Clerk -Helen L. Travis, Building Inspector-Joseph Ludewig. Supervisor Richard H. Linge opened the hearing at 9 P. M. About 10 people attended. Supervisor Linge read the notice of the Hearing. Town Clerk reported notice had been published in payper and had been posted. Building Inspector, Ludewig explained the area that was in the re-zoning. Hupeb*msor Linge asked for all those in favor of this being re-zoned to speak. Miss Beatric Iving, owner of the property, spoke stating that Mr. Dyson who operated the store had outgrown same and wished to en- large the store, that was the reason she was requestingthe re- zoning. Mr. Dyson-presented a petition foom people of the vicinity asking for re-zoning. 243 names. Mr. Dyson spoke asking for re-zoning, stating that the business was enlarging and he could not carry on. He had to leave stuff outside and that it was being stollen which was a great loss to him. Joseph Clark spoke in favor of re-zoning stating that the petition showed 243 names in favor of same. Hupervisor Linge then asked for anyone opposed to this re-zoning to speak at this time. There was no one present who opposed same. Supervisor Linge then asked to have the recommendation of the Plan- ning Board read. 10 Supervisor Linge declared the Hearing closed at 9:30 P. M. Signed 4.2 Town Cderk 02 A special meeting of the Town Board, Town of Wappinger, was held on Thursday evening, August 13, 1964 at the Town Hall, Mill Street, Wappingers Falls, N. Y. Present: -Supervisor -Richard H. Linge, Councilmen: -Wilmer Ifill & George Robinson, Justices of the Peace -William J. Bulger & Vincent S. Francese, Town Attorney -Judson Williams & Town Clerk - Helen L. Travis. Attorney Williams presented a Qedication of land from Fred. J. Lafko and David Alexander, of land adjacent to Quiet Acres Dev- elopement same facing on Wappinger Creek. A motion was made by Councilman Robinson and seconded by Justice of the Peace Bulger that the above dedication of property be accepted. Motion carried Motion was made by Councilman Iffill and seconded by Justice of the Peace Bulger that the meeting adjourn.
