1963-01-03 RGMPep 0.-;fci4 p c -r? _0//7 The regular monthly meeting of the Town Board, Town of Wappinger was held on Thursday evening, January 3rd, 1963. Present: -Supervisor -Richard H. Linge, Councilmen -Malcolm Hait and George Robinson, Justice of the Peace -Vincent Frances°, Town Attorney -Judson Williams -Building Inspector -Kenneth Thornton -Town Clerk -Helen L. Travis. • The meeting was opened at 8 P. M. by Supervisor -Richard H. Lingo. The minutes of the Deceomber meeting and. the Annual Meeting were read. Motion was made by Councilman Hait and seconded by Councilman Robinson that the minutes be accepted as read. Motion carried The bills for the month of December were read. Motion was made by Councilman Robinson and Seconded by Justice of the Peace Frances° that the bills be paid. Motion carried. GENERAL FUND • WARRANT SHEET # 16 attached $2,814..95 HIGHWAY FUND ITEM #1 Parsons Auto Sales--Anti-Freeze $ 27.00 Sinclair Refining Co. --Heating Oil 70.32 97.32 MACHINERY ITEM # 3 Midway Gas Service --Repairs. Edward Schmaling--Channels Acme Tank & Truck Corp. --Repairs 32.50 2.00 5.00 39.00 A report was reaft from the Assessors setting forth their re- commendations for the appointment of assessor. A letter was read from the W. & S. D. News asking that they be named the official paper for the Town of Wappinger. The Board did not name any paper because. being the W & S. D. 285 News is the only paper in the Township this would be the one used. Motion_ was made by ()notice of the Peace Francese and seconded by Councilman Robinson that Harry Straley be appointed Dog Warden for the year 1963. Motion carried Motion was made by Councilman Hait and seconded by Councilman Robinson that any member of the Town Board or any interested parties be allowed to attend the Association of Town Conven- tion in New York City on February $, 5 & 6th. Motion carried Motion made by Councilman Robinson and seconded by Justice of the Peace, Rzan Vincent Francese, that the Htgkrk rz Highway workers for the year be OPERATORS CHAUFFEURS LABORERS $2.10 per Hr. $1.90 per hr. $1.80 per hr. Motion made by Councilman Hait and seconded by Justice of the Peace Francese that the Wappingers Falls Office of the Marine Midland National Bank of Southeastern New York be designated as the Depository. for Town Funds, for the Town of Wappinger for the year 196. Motion carried The Town Board agreed to lay the appointment of assessor over until a later date. Motion mads by Councilman Hait and seconded by Councilman Rob- inson that Howard G. Winne be appointed chairman of the Board of assessors. Motion carried. Helen L. Travis appointed Agnes M. Grosenbeck, Deputy Town Clerk for the year 1963. Travis --Tax Collector -4450,000.00 Deputy Tax Collector-- Agnes M. Grosenbeck--X25,000.00 Concetta Silvestri --Bookkeeper to Supervisor --$10,000.00 Justice of Peace -Vincent S. Francese submitted the following report- 18 Motor Vehicle Cases -Collected $265.00 The Town Clerk reported that the Planning Board requested a joint meeting with theeTown Board on Wednesday evening, January 9 at 7:30 P. M. Motion was made by Councilman Hait and seconded by Councilman Robinson that Russell Aldrich, Attorney be hired to handle the matter of the Extension of the Hughsonville. Light District. Motion carried. A letter was received from Al Schottler submitting his resignation effective immediately from the Planning Board, due to the fact that he is moving to Phoenix Arizona. Motion was made by Councilman Hait and Seconded by Councilman Rob- inson that Mr. Schottlers resignation be accepted with regret. Motion carried. Town Clerk, Helen L. Travis reported that Justice of the Peace, Joseph F. Kelly is in Vassar Hospital. The Board wished to ex- press their sorrow for his confinement. Mr. Louis Eel; spoke before the Board in favor of Edward Husted for Assessor. Jerry Mucci spoke in favor of Edward Husted for assessor. Mr. Donald Thew approached the Board on the Assessors job. Mr. Howard Winne spoke about Edward Husted for Assessors job/ Building Inspector, Kenneth T Cornton reported 8 permits issued during December --Total 412,440,00 --Fee $121.50. 239 Mr. H. Fred. Koehler presented a letter from the Quiet Acres Civic Association, and commented on same, fttgktxRaidotxxxxx Motion was made by Justice of the PeaceFrancese and seconded by Councilman Hait that Dwight Robbins be officially assigned to enforce the Junk Yard Ordinance. Motion carried Knud Claussen, Widmer Road appeared before t h Board in ref- erence to the Salvage Yard Ordinance. Robert Clausen appeared before the Board asking about fixing road where Widmer Road enters New Hackensack Road. CebrgeEBrannon appeared before Board asking what had been done about Assessor. Suggested that the Town contact Sanborn Map Company for map of Town. Letter was received from DeerHill Conference & Retreat Oedter asking to be contacted when meeting was to be held on Zoning Ordinance. Herman Osten appeared before the Board and asked if an outside Attorney was always used for the purpose of Lighting Districts. Knud Clausen asked the Board is they could not get bigger quart- ers to hold the meeting in. Motion was made by Councilman Robinson and seconded by Councilman Hait that the meeting adjourn.
