1955-10-06A regulfr meeting of the Town Board,Town of Wappinger was held in the Town Hall on Thursday Evening October 6,1955 Present Supervisor Edward R.Scofield,Supt.of Highway Virgil Knight, Justices Joseph T.Kelly and Edward B.Beatty,Counpilman Harold J.Mewkill and Town Clerk Edith H.Booth. Meeting was called to order by Supervisor Scofield at 900 P.M. Minutes of previous meeting read and approved as read. Carried Motion made by Judge Kelly seconded by Judge Beatty that the Election Inspectors receive the following wage scale. Primary Day - $12.00 First Registration Day $1.5.00,second Registration Day $12.00 ,Election Day $1.6.00 Motion Carried. Motion made by Judge Kelly seconded by Councilman H wkill that the Highway Superintendent be empowered to purchase Tires,Tubes and tools as the occasion might demand. Carried [budget otion made by Judge Beatty seconded by Judge Kelly that the preliminary udget of the Town as presented to the Town Boardby the Town Clerk be pproved. esolved that this Town Board does hereby prepare and approve as the preliminary of this Town for the fiscal year beginning on the 1st. day of anuary 1956 the itemized statement of estimated revenues and expenditures ereto attached and made a part of this resolution and be it urther resolved that this Board shall meet on the 28th.day of October 1955 between the hours of 4100 and 5t00 o'clock P.M. for the purpose of holding a Public Hearing in the manner provided in Section 11,3 of the Town Law. The official is filed in the Supervisors Office; and the preliminary is hereby attached. Motion made by Councilman Mewkill seconded by Judge Beatty that meeting adjourn. Carried y, 130 October 6,1955 •`°": No Board of Health Meeting' was held,Health Officer Dr.William E. Garlick appeared before the Board and reported that there were no contagious or infectuoous diseases in the Town of Wappinger and that Town Health was in excellent condition. h A Tpwn Clerk. A special meeting of the Town Borad,Town of Wappinger,was held in the Town Hall on October 28,1955 Present Edward R.Scofield,Supervisor,Justices Edward B.Beatty and Joseph F.Kelly,Councilmen Emory J.Hager and Harold J.Mewkill and Town C1erk,Edith H.Booth. The meeting was called for a hearing on the preliminary budget. Proof was presented to the Town Board by the Town Clerk of the publication of Notices specifying time and place of hearing upon such budget. The Town Clerk presented budget to the Town Board. The hearing was held open from 4 o'clock to 5 o'clock P.M. with members of the Town Board present. No persons appearing either in favor of or against the' preliminary budget,a motion was made by Justice Beatty seconded by Justice Kelly that budget be adopted as read. Carried lrhsreas this Town Board has met at the time and ace specified in the notice of public hearing on the prelim';� heard all persons desiring to be heard thereon,now therefore be it Resolved that this Town Board does hereby adopt such preliminary budget as originally compiled as the annual budget of this Town for the fiscal year beginning on the first day of January 1956, and that such budget as so adopted,be entered in detail in the minutes of the proceedings of this Town Board and be it Further resolved that the Town Clerk of this Town shall prepare. and certify in duplicate copies of such annual budget°as adopted' by this Town Board together with the estimates if any adopted pursuant to Sec.202 A 9u9d 2 of the Town law,and deliver two copies thereof to the supervisor of this Town,to be presented by to the Board of Supervisors of this County. Special meeting of the Town Board,Town of 1Vappinger called at him 5 o'clock P.M. October 28,1955. Motion made by Councilman Hager seconded by Judge Kelly that the Supervisor be empowered to pay the Treasurer of Dutchess County $5000.00 to reduce Dutchess� County levy against the Town of Wappinger. Money to be taken from surplus funds. Motion Carried. Motion made by Judge Beatty seconded by Councilman Mewki.l.l that the Supervisor be empowered to advertize for bids for sanding machine , to be used by the Town of Wappinger Highway Department.
