The regular monthly me ting of the Town Board, Town of Wappinger, was held in
the Town Hall, on Thursday evening, February 9th, 1961.
Present: -Supervisor Richard H. Linge, daistices of the Peace-Joppph F. Kelly
and Edward B. Beatty, Councilmen -Emory J. Hager and Malcolm I. Hait, Super-
intendent of Highways -Charles E. Mewkill, Sr., Town Attorney -James J. Lyons„
Town Engineer—Charles Maneri and Tmwn Clerk -Helen L. Travis.
The meeting was opened by Richard H. Linge, Supervisor at 8 P. M.
The minutes of the last meeting were read. A motion was made by Justice of
the Peace Kelly and seconded by Councilman Hait that the minutes be accepted
as read. Motion carried

A letter was read from the Chamber of Commerce asking that the Town con—
sider placing Town of Wappinger signs on all roads leading into the
Township. After discussion the clerk was instructed to write a letter
to the Chamber of Commerce stating that some roads now have signs and
asking what size and type of signs they would suggest and also on
what roads.
A Bond for the Tax Collector, Helen L. Travis in the sum of $286,397.00
was presented. A motion was made by Judge Kelly and seconded by Council—
man Hager that the bond be accepted. Motion carried.
The bills for the month of January were read. A motion was made by
Judge Beatty and seconded by Councilman Hait that these be paid.
Motion carried.
4Motion:was made by Judge Kelly and seconded by Councilman Hager that
Constable Walter Altonen be given permission to call the Constables
together for a meeting for the purpose of getting them to attend
the Town Police School. Motion carried.
A letter was received from the Planning Board stating that Albert
Schottlers term had expired and asked that he be re—appointed on
the Board for 7 years. A motion was made by Judge Beatty and seconded

Board for a period of 7 years. Motion carried.
A discussion was held pertaining to the purchase of machinery. The
Board instructed Superintendent of Highways Charles E. Mewkill, Sr.
and Town Engineer Maneri to check machinery and see what is needed.

It was reported that a member of the Recreation committe had re—
signed, and the following committee was presented for re—appointment
William Ryan, Chairman, James Urey, Robert Conklin, William Berg and
Harold Ingles. A motion was made by Judge Beatty and seconded by
Councilman Hait that this committee be accepted. Motion carried.
Mr. Nelson from the Central Hudson G. & E. Copp, explained the new
lighting program for the Hughsonville Light District. The Board
decided to hold a Public Hearing at the Hughsonville Firehouse on
Thursday evening, February 23, 1961 at 8 otclock, at which time
the Board and Mr. Nelson will explain the program to the peopled
and hear their views on same.
Motion was made by Judge Kelly and seconded by Councilman Hager that
any legal papers from developers must be in the hands of the Town
Clerk 10 days ahead of meeting, so that they may be turned over to
our Town Attorney for his consideration, if they are not, action will
be deferred udtil the next meeting. Motion carried.
Mt. Osten spoke about designation of Town Paper.
Motion was made by Mudge Kelly that tie mttion made by him at the previous
meeting, pertaining to naming of Beacon News as the Town Paper 14 rescinded.
leaving the Town open to use any pap r they desire. This was seconded by
Councilman Hait. Motion carried
Martin Leskow appeared before the Board asking for acceptance of his Roads.
Motion was made by Councilman Hait and seconded by Councilman Hager that
Mocassin View Road and Beverley Lane, as described in deed, dated February
7, 1961, be accepted as Town Roads. Motion carried
Peter Birgapvoli appeared before the Board and presented a petition against
a j yard on Cooper Road and Smithtown Road. The petition to be held by
the Board showing that the people are not in favor of same.
Motion was made by Councilman Hait and seconded by nudge Kelly that the
meeting adjourn.
Motion carried.
Town Clerk
