The regular meeting of the Town of Wappinger Recreation Commission was held at the Town Hall on October 5, 1972 at 7:30 P. M. Attending: Messrs. Hugh J. Maurer, George Schlathaus, Richard Garren and James V. Porter Mrs. Alfred Arkell M~s. R. L. Beahan Mr. W. Thomas Rogers, Director of Recreation Fleetwood Mr. Joseph Incoronato appeared before the Commission to report that Mr. Horton of the Town Highway Department had provided considerable fill at the recreation site in Fleetwood but much more fill is needed. Mr. Incoronato requested that representatives from the Commission meet with him at the site in order to determine what is needed in order to fill in the property. Mr. Porter and Mr. Garren agreed to meet with Mr. Incoronato on Saturday, October 7th to look the job over. Waooinoer Women's Softball Leaoue Mrs. Weiner appeared before the Commission as a representative of the above captioned group and stated that the group is interested in ar- ranging for the use of a softball field for 1973. She said that they play ball four nights a week, starting in early May and ending in August. Commissioners agreed that arrangements should be made to accommodate this group. Mrs. Weiner was assured of the Commission's cooperation and thB~ told . her that they will contact Mr. J. J. Ennesser, President of Little League, who handles field assignments, and she will be contacted early in 1973. Mrs. Weiner is a resident of Wildwood Manor, Apt. 24A, Wappingers Falls, N. Y.," Tele. No. 297-4762. , . Director of Recreation Mr. Rogers submitted his End of Season Report for Summer 1972. Copies will be distributed to all Commissioners. Mr. Rogers also submitted an inventory list of all arts and crafts supplies which will be placed in the Recreation Commission files. Quiet Acres Mr. Porter reported that he is experiencing problems with vandalism. The fuse tioxes are broken. Commissioners agreed that Central Hudson should be contacted td cut the power at the pole in order to prevent any injuties. Mrs. Beahan reported that she had received approximately thirteen (13)' replies to her letter which had been directed to those people in the community who had returned survey questionnairs to the Commission and had indicated thereon their Willingness to assist the Commission in its work. The Commission agreed to wait until the next meeting to determine what action they will take in an effort to gain community support toward the establishment of a community center. Mr. Maurer reported on the meeting with the Planning Board held on Monday evening, October 2nd to discuss the Gilman property. The Commission has gone on record that they will accept money in lieu of land. Commissioners agreed that the Planning Board should receive two (2) copies of the Recreation Consultants, Inc. survey.
