TOWN OF WAPPINGER RECREATION COMMISSION
MINUTES OF FEBRUARY 15, 1973 MEETING
Next Meeting - March 8, 1973 - 7:30 P.M.
The first meeting of the Recreation Commission for Community Recreation
Center was held at the Town Hall on February 15, 1973 at 7:30 P.M.
Attending:
Messrs. Hugh J. Maurer, George Schlathaus, Richard Garren
and James V. Porter;
Mrs. Jean Beahan.
Absent:
Mr. W. Thomas Rogers, Director of Recreation;
Mrs. Alfred Arkell. '
Mr. Maurer read a letter from the Planning Board on future Bike Trails
which was disc~ssed and tabled.
Members of Committee for Community Recreation Center are as follows:
Attending:
Messrs. Robert Deshong, Donald Stein, A. Koerner and
Donald Close;
Mrs~ Frances Seidman and Mrs. Edward Del Monte.
Absent:
Messrs. Roy Banks, Thomas Feraco and Franklin Ottman;
Mrs. Amelia Banks.
Mr. Maurer expressed that all ages should be included in proposed new
community center.
Mrs. Beahan, Chairman of Community Center Committee suggested that teanagers
should be encouraged to be part of this committee.
It was suggested that committee should get ~ervice organizations interested
in our proposed new center. A discussion followed in reference to what
does the Town really need, such as, how large a building, what facilities
should it contain, should there be a fee charged(individual or family plan)
and centralization of center. '
Mr. Maurer suggested the committee take home the Survey Books to digest
material and return with further concrete planning on center.
Suggestion was made to canvass neighborhood and bring friends to next meeting
to determine what is really needed and wanted by Town's residents.
The meeting was adjourned ,at 9:30 P.M.
