1979-10-04 ~~ ... TOWN OF WAPPINGER RECREATION COMMISSION OCTOBER 4, 1979 N?xt Heetinq--October 25, 1979 The regular meeting of the Recreation Commission was held on Oct. 4, 1979 at 'l'own Hall, Mill Street, Village of Wappingers Falls, Dutchess County, New York. Mr: Maurer opened the meeting at 8:30 P.M. Present: Hugh J. Maurer, Chairman! Mary Schmalz, Ron Petro, Vernon Smith and Councilwoman Janet Reilly i~r. Maurer wished to discuss the Estimate of Revenues that had been submitted by Mrs. Schmalz for the 1980 Budget. This was an estimate of rr:onies that would be received from the Youth Board for 1980 and Mes. Schmalz had estimated $34,900.04. Mr. Maurer did not agree withtnvS figure as he felt it was not an a~ount that they could definitely count . on receiving. Mrs. Schmalz arrived at this figure by listing $2,088.04 which had been received from ~~s Division for Youth Supplemental Funding 1979, $16,406.00, for NYS Division for Youth Program Fu.nding 1979 and the same amount .for 1980. However, she was not su:ce if it would be I received in 1980 or 1981, and for this reason, Mr. Maurer did not want to put that figure in. vthen Hr. Rvan, Comptroller had received these figures, he had contacted Mr. Maurer to check on the accuracy and had been told by Mr. Maurer to use the figure of $7,500.00 for estimated revenues rather than the ~34,900.04 figure listed. He explained that he had not picked this figure out of a hat but when he had attended the different serninars, he went to the finance meeting and had been told tha.:: \las a safe figure when estimating revenue for the following year. Ee also felt that these reports should be shown to all co~~issioners '...rhEm they met so they all knew what was being submitted and could discuss it intelligently. He directed that nothing be submitted in the future to any Youth Boards without the Recreation Commission members having full prior knowledge of them. l.lr3. Mr. En~esser had prepared a report on Field Facility Use which had been sent to Mr. Johnson and was distributed at the meeting to the members present and to Mrs. Reilly. Hr. Petro .reported that the Tennis Program and tournaments ,,,ere completed and it had been a very successful season. Everyone seemed to be satisfied with the instructor and the attendants. Two trophies had been turned in to the Town Hall earlier in the week and he requested that they be stored until next year and they could change the date plate. He noted that they had used an instructor from the Town of Poughkeepsie because the one they had from wappinger had left and no one could be found in this town who was willing to take the job or was qualified. There was no.otqer business to come before the Corrmission The meeting adjourned at 9:45 P.M. {, / ' '- ' / ' '\./ y' '" -/. -v;J ,,/--,,_ (-'-_?""'Ij ,.L/ v Gladys Ruit, Secretary /; . r) .., - /,-e-c..?- t
