Next Meeting---April 10, 1980
The regular meeting of the Recreation Commission was held on March 6,
1980 at Town Hall, Mill Street, Wappingers Falls, New York.
Mr. Maurer opened the meeting at 7:40 P.M.
Present: Hugh J. Maurer, Chairman, Mary Schmalz, Frank Presti,
Joseph Ennesser, Director
Tractor Bid:
The first item on the agenda was to consider the traotor bids that
had been opened that day by the Tgwn Clerk. Five bids had been
received, the lowest priced at $7,500.00 but did not meet the
specs for the required horsepower. The next lowest bid was for
$12,790. from FPC Farm Products, and pine Plains Fo~d0Tractor in
-the amount of $12,804: this company offered rear tires loaded in
their price, and although this was not in the specs, Mr. Maurer
felt this was a good item to have and therefore, he ~ecommended
that they pass this on to the Town Board. All present agreed to
recommend awarding the bid to Pine Plains Ford Tractor Co. in the
amount of $l~, 804.00
'Football Bid: f
The next item to be considered was the football bid. Four bids had
been received and Mrs. Schmalz had reviewed them. She recommended
Tri-Carr Sporting Goods in the amount of $20.00 each for football
helmets as the lowest bid, and since they had allowed $1,500.00 in
-the budget, they would be able to purchase 75 helmets. All agreed
to this recommendation.
Correspondence:
^ letter had been received from Victoria Best, Executive Director of
the Dutchess County Youth Bureau enclosing a sample letter to write
to the key state legislators in regard tor€s:toration of the Division
of Youth local assistance funds in the New York State 1980-81 Budget.

lobbying efforts.
Director:
Mr. Ennesser had a few items to discuss. One was to help Walter
Murray in his attempt to obtain the use of school facilities for
a softball team, and also the use of the Town fields. He lived at
Scenic Garden Apts. in the TOwn of wappinger, and Mr. Ennesser stated
that the team was comprised of at least 80% Town residents and he felt
they should try to cooperate with him in his effort to use these
facilities. All agreed.
Mr. Ennesser then reported that he had contacted the Music Department
of Dutchess Community College hoping to book them for summer concerts
for a band platform the Commission was planning on building on the
Sch:athaus Property. He had received a reply--but not the reply ~e
had hoped for. Their services came high--2 concerts $800. I concert
$500. He was told each member received $10, and the balance goes into
a scholarship fund. He would continue looking.
Youth Program:
Mr. Maurer asked Mrs. Schmalz if she had started the application for
reimbursement on the Youth program. When she replied that one report
had been sent in, Mr. Maurer asked why the Commission had not been
given the courtesy of seeing this report before it was sent in. Mrs.
Schmalz replied that there had not been enough time, Mr. Maurer had
been away and there was a deadline to meet. His reply was that he
had asked again and again, last year and this year, that this report
be done in time for the Commission to see it before the Sppervisor
signed it. He had wanted to meet with the Comptroller on this subject,
as he felt it was a job that department should be doing and they should
be getting some assistance from the Comptroller with it. He had pre-
viously asked Mrs. Schmalz to set up a meeting with the three of them.
This obviously had not been done and Mr. Maurer asked that this be
put in the minutes and asked Mrs. Schmalz again to set up a meeting
so they sould discuss it and come to some dete~~ination. ;/)'
