The regu~ar ..eting of the Town of Wappinger Recreation Commisaion was
held on October 8, 1981 at Town Hall, Mill Street, Village of Wappingers
Falls, Dutche.s County, New York.
Mr. Maurer opened the meeting at 7:40 p.m.
Present: Hugh J. Maurer, Chairman, Joseph ~. Ennessar, Joseph Mastrioanni,
Mary Schmalz 'and Bill Wood.
On a motion by Mr. Wood, seconded by Mr. Mastrioenni the minutes of
the September 3, 1981 .eeting were approved.
PAINTING
Mrs. Schmalz said she haa the paint for the bandstand at the Schlauthaus
Property but was afraid the weather was to cold to do it. It was decided
tOhhave her go ahead and get the help and do it now.
SOCCER
Practice will be starting this week with regular play beginning next week
and ending the Saturday before Thanksgiving. The children who participated
will recsive certificates on December 5th.

BEAUIIFIc~:rIaN
Mr. Mastrioanni who talked with Mr. Herb Saltford about beautification
projects wanted to know if we would like someone to come to one of our
meetings to discuss the pros and cons of beautification. It was thought
that the Co-operati.vehtensi.on orN. Y. State Park Commission would do
this. Mr. Hastrioanniwill look further into this and try to get someone
to come to our next me.tigg.
VANDALISM
There was a discussion on vandalism in the Town. It was suggested that w.
might be able to get help from some young groupe or cadets on this proble..
Mrs. Schmalz said she~though:t there. was. a group of C.B.'ers and/or Auxiliary
Police. Mr. Mastrioanni will check with the Chief of Police and get a name
of. someone to contact on this matter.
DIRECTOR'S REPORT
Mr. Ennesser said that the Winter Programs were starting to take shape. The
Aerobic Dance and Exercise class starts on Monday, Octobar 26th. Men's Open
Basketball and Adult Volleyball will start in November. Boys and Girls
Gymnastics and Basketball will be starting soon.

There was a goad turnout for the Schlathaus Race with about 40 youngstera
and 47 adults.
The emblem for the band.tand is pretty near complete. It is an specially
treated plywood and Ernie is putting a frame around it to seal off the
edge..
fIELD MAI~TENANCE
Mr. Wood mentioned he had a letter from the Little League thanking ue for
the field Maintenance Program during their last seaaon.

We have started getting delivery of clay at Robinson, Rockingha. and Chelsea
field.. The deliveries should be completed soon.
CHELSEA BOAT ~OCK
There was a discussion on the black top to be done at the ramp. It was
mentioned that next yearwa should put some type offloat in the Spring ao
the people could get out to their boats once they are in the water.

Mr. Maurer will discuss with. Mr. Presti the flag Pale foundation. Mr."
Pre.ti will draw up the Sp.DS.. There are two options 11 by the Christmas
Tre. property line and 12 by the bandstand. By a vote of 4 to 1 it was
decided to put it on the Property Line.
TREE LIGHTING
The tree lighting will be held rain or shine on Sunday, December 13th at 6130.
Mr. Woad said he would take care of Santa Claus. Candy Cane. andcoffe. will
be given out.
It was suggested we might use a nativity on the, platform. Mrs. SchMalz s8id
we could use hera for the sea80n. Mrs. Schmalz suggested we do something
to symbolize the Jewish Holidays and said she would look into it.
WINTERIZING
It was mentioned that the water be turned off and pipes blown out. Also
Mr. Ennesser asked that the two tables at Hughsonville be picked up Bnd
stored and that the tables at Ma~tz and Robinson Lane be put in.

There was a discu.sionon the Tennis Bid. A statement was made that we
