Maurer, Chairman Town of wappinger Recreation Commission Mill Street wappingers Falls, N.Y. 12590 Dear Mr. Maurer, Listed below are the field requirements for our 1981 baseball and softball programs. We appreciate your consideration in this matter. Very truly yours, sl Ralph J. Holt, President Mr. Maurer asked that the first letter be copied to the Town Board. The second letter was referred to Mr. Ennesser, Director. - , .. 'page 3 Recr.' Comm. Minutes 2/5/81 Mr. Herb Ruzicka was present at his re~est and asked to speak on sponsorship by the Town Recreation of his organization Boots and Bows, a Square Dancing Group. They had been meeting every 2nd and 4th Friday in the school, however, the cost was going up and they did not feel they could handle it. If the Town sponsored them, it would only amount to custodian cost, which would be borne by them or perhaps worked out in conjunction with other programs already sponsored by the Town Recreation occurring simultaneously. Therefore, there would be no additional cost to the Commission. He went on to explain their program, the times and fees for participants. This was referred to Mr. Ennesser to discuss with Mr. Ruzicka possible sponsorship by the Commission and report back to the members for their consideration. There was a possibility it could be a Town program depending on Mr. ~ Ennesser's schedule for next years' winter programs that were conducted in the school. REPORTS Mrs. Schmalz gave a report on a meeting she attended in Albany, with the new member of the commission, Mr. Mastroianni. This ".--1as the New York State Recreation and parks Legislature Forum in Albany on January 27, 1981 and related to budgets, certification to conduct the Summer Program, and funding for Handicap Programs. The subject of refrigera- tion for children's lunches which would be required by the Department of Health was discussed and Mrs. Schmalz felt they could purchase a refrigerator and install it in the building at Martz. She would look into this. She then asked Mr. Mastroianni if he cared to add anything, however, he felt she had' covered it adequately. If anyone needs or . ..... . 'page 4 Recr.' Comm. Minutes 2/5/81 wants more specific information on this Forum, please contact Mrs. schmalz for literature and notes she took. Mr. Mastroianni then asked what he could get involved in as a new member. It was agreed he should look into a program for Senior Citizens, get their feelings on projects they would like. Before any definite plans were made, he would have to discuss the finances involved. At present, the commission was paying transportation for two Senior Citizen Clubs for trips they arrange themselves. Last year each club had a trip, this year they were looking for two trips. Each trip would cost approximately $300.0u, total of $1,200.00 to be considered for this year's budget. They arranged shopping trips to some of the malls in Connecticut, New York and New Jersey, or scenic trips at the appropriate time of. the year. If this satisfied them, Mr. Mastroianni might be able to get involved in the arrangements of these trips--help pick out a destination, date, bus company, etc. Mr. Maurer felt the Senior citizens were being short changed, but realized it was difficult to set up a program for them that would be acceptable to all as they seemed to prefer making their own arrange- ments and requesting that transportation be a Town charge. Mr. Mastroianni would look into it and report back with his findings and recommendations. BIDS Two bids were received for baseball equipment and opened by the Town Clerk on February 5th, 1981---Letterii sporting Goods $3,988.20 and Anaconda-Kaye Sports $4,005.52. Mr. Wood moved that the Recreation Commission recommend to the Town Board , ., " r 'f- .. . Page ;5 Recr. Comm. Minutes 2/5/81 that Letterii Sporting Goods be awarded the bid, as low bidder, seconded by Mr. Mastroianni and carried. FOOTBALL BID Mrs. Schmalz asked that a date be set for a bid opening on Football Equipment, which she was compiling. The date of this opening was set for March 4, 1981 and the secretary was asked to have the legal published and send bids to the companies we had previously sent them to and any others that might be interested. There was no further business to come before the Commission. The meeting adjourned at 9:30 P.M. .~~M Gladys Ruit, Secr.
