TOWN OF WAPPINGER - RECREATION COMMISSION
NEXT MEETING WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 30. 1983
The regular meeting of the Town of Wappinger Recreation
Commission was held November 3, 1983 at Town Hall, Mill Street, Village
of Wappingers Falls, County of Dutchess, New York.
The meeting was called to order by Chairman Hugh J. Maurer
at 7:45 with the following persons present: Joseph Mastroianni, Mary
Schmalz, and William Wood.
The minutes of the September 8, 1983 meeting were approved
on a motion by Mr. Wood seconded by Mr. Mastroianni. All were in favor.
CHRISTMAS TREE LIGHTING
The Tree Lighting Program will be held December 4, 1983 at
Schlathaus Park at 6:30 p.m. This year the activities will all be held
on the platform. It was asked that ~ members be there 1/2 hour before
starting time.
Mr. Maurer mentioned the following:
1. He has not heard anything further regarding the addition
on the Robinson Lane building or the rest rooms.
2. The new doors are in for the Martz Field and Robinson
Lane Buildings. Mrs. Schmalz will contact the Alarm System Personnel
to have them re-wired.
3. He will try and get the dump at Robinson Lane pushed over
and the holes filled in the back.
4. Three culverts are in at Castle Point.
5. The Roof at Martz Field needs to be repaired and some
patching work needs to be done at the Robinson Lane Building.
6. The ao~~ at Chelsea is completed.
7. Reese Park road has been blacktopped.
USE OF SCHOOLS FOR PROGRAMS
A letter has been received from Gordon Hirt, Principal of John
Jay High School stating that we would not be able to use their facilities
because they are needed for their own sports programs and practices.

SPOOK HILL - fIELDSTONE fARMS
It was requested that a letter be sent to Rudy Lapar regarding
the above stating that before we will accept the work as being completed
we must have some type of markers or monuments located on the property.
CHELSEA PLAYGROUND
It was decided to invite the Board of fire Commissioners of
Chelsea fire District to our next meeting to discuss the problems re-
garding the playgound ie. broken glass and screens, graffiti and inside
cleaning.
DIRT BIKE TRACK
At a meeting in October a group from the BMX Club discussed
the possibility of a track for BMX Racing. Since there wasn't a quorum
present, it was decided to invite them back at a future date. Mrs.
Schmalz thought it might be a good idea but wondered how many Wappinger
residents were involved.
The secretary reported for Mr. Ennesser that he had ordered
chairs and tables for the playgounds and that a concert is scheduled
for Sunday, December 18 at 3:00 at the Jr. High with the Summertime
Olde Towne Band.
The meeting was adjourned at 9&15 on a motion by Mr. Wood
seconded by Mr. Mastroianni.
