The regular meeting of the Town of Wappinger Recreation Commission
was held MarchB, 1984 at Town Hall, Mill Street, Village of Wappingers Falls,
County of Dutchess, New York.
The meeting was called td order at 7:55 p.m. by Chairman Hugh J.
Maurer with the following persons present: Joseph Mastroianni, Ronald Petro,
Mary Schmalz and William Wood.
The minutes of the February 16, 1984 meeting were approved on
a motion by Mr. Petro seconded by Mr. Wood. All were in favor.
LITTLE LEAGUE
Mr. Wood mentioned that Little League was able to get the
materials donated for the floor at the Robinson Lane building but so far haven't
been able to get the ceiling materials donated. If they are not successful getting
a donation, they will put up sheet rock. They will also look into getting materials
donated for a new roof at Martz Field.
He also mentioned that Little League still wants the phone placed
outside the building and are willing to build a cement block booth. Mr. Maurer
said to wait and see what the engineers are doing on the handicapped facilities
and maybe they could incorporate it in the plans. One should also be kept inside
in case the outside one isn't working.
Mr. Blose arrived at 8:05 p.m.
DIRECTORS REPORT
Mr. Blose mentioned that he has ordered the lime from Windsor -
200 bags at $3.75 a bag and that they prefer to deliver it all at once. but the Commission
is having trouble finding storage space for it all.
The following have been set up for the Summer Playgrounds:
1. Two CERT performances at Sch1athaus Park,one to be held
on July 10th and the other on August 7th.
2. Two sessions at the Derby in Fishki11, one to be held
on July 18th and the other on August 14th.
3. Two extra weeks have been added to the swim program at
Deer Hill so each playground will have two full weeks.
Mr. Blose has contacted the Riverbank Banjo Band for a summer
concert. He is still hoping to contract the West Point Band.

Mr. Blose has been in contact with the Senior Citizens and
Mr. Mastroianni regarding their trips and the dates available.
Mr. Roger Foley, from Deer Hill, has notified Mr. Blose that
they are booked solid and cannot accomodate a Senior Citizen swim. Cross
Court might be our best bet. Mr. Blose will follow up.
Two requests have been submitted for softball fields - one'
for the Sunday Morning Softball League and the other from Thomas Santopietro.
Mr. Blose will take care of these.
The Early Bird Tournament is scheduled for April 7th and 8th
at Robinson Lane.
Mr. Blose and Mrs. Schmalz attended a meeting Monday, March 12th
with representatives from Dutchess County Parks, the Arts Council and the Youth
Bureau. There was a general discussion on how to share services and to apply
for grants.

Mrs. Schmalz handed out information on insurance for the members
Any questions and recommendations should be presented at the next
CULINARY EXHIBIT
Mrs.Schma1z went to the Grinnell Library to see about having
the Culinary Exhibit there but was informed that it was too late to do it this
year. Both the Culinary and Grinnell were receptive to the idea to have'
it next year.
CONCERT
Mr. Mastroianni mentioned that the concert on Sunday, March 11th
was good but the attendance was poor. He felt that at future concerts a member
of the Recreation Committion should welcome the audiance on heha1f of the Town of
Wappinger Recreation Commission and mention any upcoming programs. It might
also be a good opportunity to hand out our recreation brochures.
ROBINSON LANE
Mr. Maurer mentioned that the owner of the land adjacent to
Robinson Lane property approached Mr. Versace and was wondering if the Commission
was still interested in that property. The owner would mine the land and give
it to the Town. After a discussion, it was voted all in favor, that a letter be
sent to the Town Board stating that the Recreation Commission was interested in the land.

SENIOR CITIZENS
Mrs. Schmalz mentioned that the contract for Senior Citizens
was in to be signed but she wanted to look into it further. Mr. Maurer wanted
the information brought in so a joint decision could be made.
IRUCK BODIES
Mr. Petro is still checking on getting a truck body for the
Quiet Acres Summer Playground and Robinson Lane.
CASTLE POINT
The Commission updated the letter regarding the Improvements
and Development at Castle Point so the Town Board could forward it with the
application for a Town pick up.
REGGIE DRIVE
The Town Board would like our recommendations for work to
be done at the above. It was recommended that a letter be written to the Town
Board with the list of improvements as stated in our November 22, 1982 letter
to Kenneth Russ of Site Planners and James A. Klein On October 9, 1981.
BARN
A tentative date of March 24, 1984 at 11:00 has been set for
a meeting to discuss the barn.
On a motion by Mr. Petro seconded by Mr. Wood the meeting was
adjourned at 9:30.
