Commission was held February 8, 1990 at Brexel-Schlathaus
Parl(, All Angels Hill Road, Town of Wappinger, Dutchess
County, New York.
The meeting was called to order at 8:35 P.M. with the
following persons present: Ralph J. Holt, Chairman, Bernie
Reimer, Directol", and Commission Members Ellen Korz, Joseph
Mastroianni, Hugh J. Maurer, Donald Rider, and Bill Wood.

Information was received from the New York State
Recreation and Parks Society regarding the 50th Annual
Conference and Exhibition to be held March 25 28 at the
Concord Resort Hotel, Kiamesha Lake, New York. A request has
b0en sent to the Town Board requesting permission for 2
members to attend. Mr. Maurer and Mr. Mastroianni have
indicated that they wish to attend if it is approved by the

Monday or Wednesday. Mr. Reimer contacted Ketcham and
received an okay for March 19 or 21st. It was suggested that

will cover prevention and care, stretching, emergency on site
care, and will answer any questions. Mr. Reimer will clarify
the cost tomorrow. It was suggested that he contact
officials from Little League, Soccer and Pop Warner and ask
them to get back with the number of people interested in

He has been following up on a concert for March 10th and
found out that a small group from the Hudson Valley

would be willing to perform but the only draw back was that
they charge 51,800. Everyone felt that it was too expensive.
Again the West Point Band was suggested and Mr. Reimer said
that he had no response from the letter written to
Congressman Hamilton Fish. Mr. Reimer will try and contact
them again for the summer. Other suggestions were the Banjo
Band and the Sweet Adelines. Councilwoman Visconti suggested

We have just been notified by the Wappinger Jr. High
th3t the gym is finished and we are ready to start the Adult

Mr. Reimer said he received a brochure from a group in
Westchester stating th2-t they want to run their baseball camp

The Spniors had a trip scheduled for March 15th but it
had to be postponed.
Mr. Mastroianni asked about the status of the boccie
court and horseshoe pit at the Town Hall and was informed
that we hadn't received an answer from the previous Town
Board but that we will go back to the present Town Board with

Mr. Wood mentioned that he reviewed the above
application and suggested we apply for money for 3 picnic
tables for Castle Point. since last year we received S500.for
bra7iers for that area. The secretary will obtain an
estimate from Miracle Recreation.

that they are in pret.ty good shape. He also received
dimpnsons of 24 x 12 for the new dugouts and an approximate
cost of $3,000. for concrete for the 4 dugouts.
Another item suggested to be done is to install a fence
to protect the shelter. This would cost $1,500 to install.

bleachers - they are going to purchase 3 and we will purchase

After reviewing the three projects and the commitment to
purchase the bleachers, it was decided that the fencing
project was the most important at the present time. Mr.
Mensching mentioned that he was working on getting the
dugouts done some other way.

Castle POint area is the first priority when it is

Another priority will be to get some type of building with
rest rooms constructed there for the summer program.

A letter has been sent to the Chelsea Fire District
informing them that since we are no lonqer able to use this
facility we felt we shouldn't be expected to repair the

Personnel, it was suggested that this booklet be compiled and

should try to contact Mike Malone from Bowdoin Park for more
information about work crews and suggestions to fix up the

We still have to find suitable property and we haven't;
given up yet on the property on Widmer Road or the Charboro
Property on Robinson Lane. Mr. Holt mentioned that we have
asked for land from the DiPalma f:)ubdivision on Robinson Lane.
