Since she has started teaching full time she felt she didn't have the time to devote to the Recreation Commission. A recommendation was forwarded to the Town Board for the appointment of Terrance Fisher to fill this vacancy. Mr. Holt mentioned that if anyone knows of any person interested in becoming a member they should have them send4.n a resume. A letter was received from Ronald B. Mackowiak of the Wappinger united Soccer Club outlining their field request for the Spring 1991 Soccer Season. It was requested that this request be addressed at the January meeting. A second request was received from Angela Randolph regarding the use of our fields for a tournament in June 1991. Mr. Reimer mentioned that he called and spoke with Ms. Randolph and was told that any weekend in June (all day Saturday and 1/2 day Sunday-Y',would be okay. The request is for 3 fields with 250' fence. Mr. Reimer will call and offer Castle Point 2 fields and mention the building. DIRECTOR'S REPORT Mr. Reimer mentioned that he has the answering machine hooked up at Schlathaus for any questions on programs. If anyone needs to reach him, they can call and leave a message on the recorder. He is able to call from his home every day to get messages and therefore will be able to more efficiently handle any recreation calls. The number is 297-4752. -... Recreation Minutes Page 2 December 13, 1990 Mr. Reimer met with representatives from West Point and after a visit to the Junior High, it was decided that the stage was too small for the 55 piece band which was tentatively booked for March 1. They then checked the John Jay High School and although the stage was large enough, they found out that it was booked on that date. A verbal agreement was then made to have the Band play at Ketcham at 8:00 on May 3rd. The only expense for the Town would be refreshments after the concert and possibly $160. towards transportation. Since March 1st was already booked at the Junior High, it was suggested that we try and get another program in place for that night. Mr. Reimer said he had already spoken to someone from the Hudson Valley Philharmonic for a variety show. The cost would be $800. for a 1 ~ - 2 hour show. Some other suggestions for follow up were: Riverbank Banjo Band, Switch-in-Time (I.B.M.), D. c. C. Chorus and Brass Ensemble and the Sweet Adelines. Mr. Reimer will work on setting up something for this date. SOCCER Mr. Rider mentioned that the Wappinger United Soccer Club has requested that no parking signs be placed on the right hand side of the road from the trailer.. to RegeJl.oy D~~ Thiswilt"'betaken care of. _ The Tbwn is still working with Mr. Buyokowski on the land donation for soccer on Route 376. CHA IRMAN 's REPORT Mr. Holt mentioned that the building has been constructed at Castle Point and hopefully the shingles will be put on this next weekend. (December 15th). The painting will be done in the Spring. It was also suggested that maybe Mr. Foster, Highway Superintendent, might be able to cut down some of the trees opposite the recreation site. In the Spring we have to do the well and septic. Another item to be considered might be a track around the fence. "No Dumping" signs should be placed by the Barn on Montfort Road. Mr. Holt thanked everyone who worked at the Christmas Party. It was one of the biggest turnouts. We were especially thankful for all our volunteer help. Several items worth noting are: 1. Little league served more popcorn than in the previous 3 years. 2. Two of the thermos containers which we got from Rent-All Center were dirty and clogged with hot chocolate and couldn't be used. Thanks to New Hackensack Fire Co. for the use of their thermos containers. Rent-All will be told of this and we will not pay for the ones we couldn't use. 3. The band was "Super". :' "'- Recreation Minutes Page 3 December 13, 1990 4. A suggestion was made that we should have some entertainment while the children are waiting in line to see Santa. 5. It was suggested we try and purchase additional Christmas lights after Christmas at the 1/2 price sales. The Recreation Commission will be responsible for the Senior Citizen program as of January 2, 1991. Kathi DeLisa has been hired as Director and we are working on obtaining an exercise teacher and a craft teacher. ROBINSON LANE Mr. Ron Friedman, Engineer attended the meeting with an aerial photo of Robinson Lane and discussed the drainage problems especially those on Holt Field, SL-2, and R-3 and R-4. A suggestion was made to put in catch basins from SL-2 and Holt and to run a drainage pipe from there down the roadway. Mr. Friedman noted that there is a positive pitch and that the pipe wouldn't have to go all the way to the creek. He estimated the cost to be between $5,000. and $7,000. Mr. Friedman agreed to design a plan with 2 phases - 1 phase for the drainage for Holt and SL-2 and the 2nd for R-3 and R-4 and to present them to the Commission. The meeting was adjourned at 9:15 on a motion by Mr. Rider seconded by Mrs. Korz.
