2013-1272013-127 Resolution Authorizing Employment of Armed Court Officers At a regular meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Wappinger, Dutchess County, New York, held at Town Hall, 20 Middlebush Road, Wappingers Falls, New York, on Apri122, 2013. The meeting was called to order by Barbara Gutzler, Supervisor, and upon roll being called, the following were present: PRESENT: Supervisor Councilmembers - Barbara Gutzler - William H. Beale Vincent F. Bettina Ismay Czarniecki Michael Kuzmicz ABSENT: The following Resolution was introduced by Counciman Kuzmicz and seconded by Councilwoman Czarniecki. WHEREAS, by memo dated April 11, 2013, Town Justices Carl S. Wolfson and Heather L. Kitchen have advised the Town Board that there is a need for Part-Time Armed Court Officers to provide security for the Town of Wappinger Justice Court; and WHEREAS, the Town Justices have recommended the hiring of three (3) additional NYS Office of Court Administration Court Officers to provide court security and screening; and WHEREAS, the persons recommended by the Town Justices maintain peace officer status pursuant to Criminal Procedure Law § 2.10(21)(a) and are qualified to serve in the positions in accordance with the civil service rules of the Dutchess County Department of Human Resources; and WHEREAS, the Town Justices have recommended that the pay for all 5 part-time Court Officers be set at $25.00 per hour; and WHEREAS, the Town Board has appropriated sufficient funding in the 2013 Budget for these Armed Court Officer positions; and NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, as follows: 1. The recitations above set forth are incorporated in this Resolution as if fully set forth and adopted herein. 2. The Town Board hereby appoints Jermaine Dublin, Rowell Williams and Paul Hyndman to the position of Armed Court Officer (hourly) effective immediately. 3. The Town Board hereby raises the hourly wage for the position of Armed Court Officer from $22.52 to $25.00 for the five (5) Armed Court Officers employed by the Town of Wappinger. 4. Said appointments are subject to the Civil Service Law of the State of New York and shall be subject to the Civil Service Law Rules and Regulations of Dutchess County and the State of New York.
