2008-1252008-125 Resolution Confirming the Continued Utilization of a Part Time Student Intern in the Office of Code Enforcement At a regular meeting of the Town Board of the Town of Wappinger, Dutchess County, New York, held at Town Hall, 20 Middlebush Road, Wappingers Falls, New York, on April 141h, 2008. The meeting was called to order by Christopher Colsey, Supervisor, and upon roll being called, the following were present: PRESENT: Supervisor Councilmembers ABSENT: Christopher J. Colsey William H. Beale Vincent F. Bettina (left at 9:01PM) Maureen McCarthy Joseph P. Paoloni The following Resolution was introduced by Councilwoman McCarthy and seconded by Supervisor Colsey. WHEREAS, the Town of Wappinger departments of Building, Planning and Zoning have utilized a part-time student intern to aid in light office tasks throughout 2007; and WHEREAS, the intern has been paid at the rate of $7.43/hour from Budget Line B8015.102 THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Town Board of the Town of Wappinger hereby authorizes the continued utilization of the part time student intern within the Town of Wappinger departments of Building, Planning and Zoning. THEREFORE BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Town Board of the Town of Wappinger hereby authorizes the transfer of Two Thousand Five Hundred Dollars and 00/100 ($2,500.00) from Budget Line B3620.105 (Code Enforcement-P/T) to B8015.102 (Zoning Secretary). PAOLONI Since the retirement of the 4`" Administrative Assistant in January 2005, Rachel Vitale was hired by Supervisor Ruggiero for part time help. She has been a great asset to this office assisting with the additional work load given to the remaining three Administrative Assistants. This is a low cost solution and assists this office in many ways without a significant cost impact to the budget. Miss Rachel E. Vitale, at the age of 14, was employed by the Town of Wappinger and working in the Code Enforcement Department since June 20, 2005. She is a full time student at Roy C Ketcham High School, and works during the school year, and during the summer break. She was hire to assist this department with administrative work. She continues to work on the conversion of the file folders (changing old top file folders to side tab file folder with new labels, relocating folders to make room in over crowded cabinets do to the increase of additional homes), daily filing of folders, and paperwork, answers the phones, take messages, keeps the applications stocked, updates the department Code Books, copying for FOIL requests, hands out applications, assists the Zoning Department with the folds zoning maps for sale, sorts paperwork for the Fire Inspector, she has assisted with the residents as to what they need, and appropriate application be given out, copies and mails out signed C/O and C/C to residents, hands out signed Building Permits, files complete complaint forms, distributes in coming mail, faxes, send faxes, she has assisted in the routing of plans, and the scheduling of inspections, she is familiar with the SCA software and has assisted in answering the inspectors questions when they radio in as to what closed permits were on a property. Rachel also assisted the Town Clerk & Dog Control Officer with their Rabies Clinic. Rachel continues to be a great asset to this department and we hope to continue her employment in the future.
